The only Christian Albanian village of Eastern Thrace is marked furthest to the west on the map in İpsala. Its inhabitants arrived at the end of the 18th century. Fan Noli (Theofanis Mavromatis), one of Albania's national leaders, was born in this village. Today, Muhacir Turks and Pomaks inhabit it.
