Ethnically, they primarily consist of Turkmens, Kurds, Baloch, Arabs, and Talysh. In terms of population density, they constitute a majority in Gulistan, Sistan, and Kurdistan provinces, and maintain significant populations in West Azerbaijan, Gilan, Kermanshah, Hormozgan, and Khorasan provinces.
